youth impact

L.O.C.A.L. Adventures is a nonprofit dedicated to helping young people build inner toolkits for resilience, creativity, and joy through yoga, mindfulness, outdoor exploration, and the arts. What began as my personal work as an educator has grown into a collaborative organization serving youth across Richmond through school partnerships, community programs, and outdoor education courses on our very own James River. We officially incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in 2024.

My own journey in education started after college while teaching English in Thailand — an experience that sparked a lasting commitment to youth development, experiential learning, and cross-cultural connection. Over the past decade, I’ve worked across the public education and nonprofit sectors as a yoga and mindfulness educator, special education teacher, art teacher, coach, and mentor. I’m certified in both children’s yoga and trauma-informed yoga, and I remain deeply passionate about sharing the practices that have helped me balance my own mind, emotions, and habits: breath, movement, creativity, and connection to nature.

Today, through L.O.C.A.L. Adventures, this work extends beyond individual classrooms into broader partnerships that bring meaningful wellness, outdoor education, and creative programming to youth who may not otherwise have access. Our programs are rooted in presence, community, emotional awareness, environmental connection, and authentic self-expression.
